Fr. Fernando M. Suarez, CC received the first manifestation of the gift of healing from the Lord at the age of 16. It was just from a deep compassion for a lady crippled for more than 40 years and lying at the sidewalk in Manila that moved him to offer her moments of praying with her. Without any expectation from that encounter, they were both surprised that the woman began to stand up and started to walk. This overwhelming experience made him hid the gift of healing for more than 20 years till his spiritual director discerned with him that such gift is not for him but for the people of God. Thus, his religious community, the Companions of the Cross, has commissioned him to start the ministry of healing. Now, Fr. Fernando goes around the world ministering the gift of healing to millions of people by extending to them the love and goodness of the Lord emanating from the Sacrament of the Eucharist.

He founded Mary Mother of the Poor springing from a divine inspiration to help the poor when he was then a seminarian in Canada. He used to save his 30-dollar meal and transportation allowance everyday as a student-seminarian and send the money instead to the Philippines to support other poor students in need scholarship and educational assistance . Presently, he is leading the Mary Mother of the Poor Foundation as a charitable institution which has already expanded to 10 countries. The foundation is engaged into giving health and nutrition program to three thousand (3,000) malnourished children everyday, building schools and providing scholarships, building houses and communities and many more.
To build the largest monument in honor of the Mary at the Oratory of the Blessed Virgin, at MonteMaria is also a divine inspiration and call. While it promotes the everlasting love and fidelity of the Lord through healing, it is also committed to a macro level of poverty alleviation.
Fr. Fernando continuously heeds everyone to seek holiness by doing good to people especially the poor and to experience the real and powerful presence of God in the Eucharist.
